SICK DAYS
A 1.0 FTE teacher is allotted 11 sick days per year.
After these are used up, you can access 120 Short Term Leave and Disability Plan days, which are paid at 90%. If you have any sick days leftover from the previous year, they can be used to "top up" those 90% days, 10% at a time, to make them 100% days. For example, if you have one sick day leftover from last year, after you use up your 11 sick days this year, you can take 10% of that day to make your first STLDP day 100%, and then another 10% to make your next STLDP day 100%, and so on to equal an addition 10 days paid at 100%, leaving 110 days that can be taken at 90%. You enter both sick days and STDLP days the same way, as Personal Illness or Medical Appointment in EasyConnect.
LTOs working less than the full year would have their sick days and STLDP allotment pro-rated to the percentage of the year they work, at 1.1 sick day per month.
Please contact TBU Officer Candice Potz at d24tbuofficer@gmail.com with any questions about sick leave or STLDP.
